Note: This fragment is one component of a larger figure for a clock of the period of Louis XVIII, executed in 1827 and depicting Prudence leaning on a scroll with his right hand, and a sword with his left. A clock of this identical model is in the Spanish Royal Collection, Cat No. 345

Provenance: Estate of Julia Badger Grand Rivers KY. Note: J.J. Elliott started his firm on Percival Street London in 1886 and received a patent in 1892 for a clock that chimes "on wires or strings like a piano."
